Sporty and powerful, the 2016 Nissan Frontier has reached a major milestone. It has been named the top mid-size truck in the J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS)!

For three decades, IQS has been looking at issues experienced by vehicle owners during the first 90 days of ownership. Initial quality is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles, with a lower score reflecting higher quality.

“Earning the top spot among vehicles in the extremely competitive mid-size truck segment is an immense point of pride for us,” said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Chief Marketing Manager and Marketing Operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “This recognition is a testament to the incredibly skilled men and women at our manufacturing and engineering facilities around the world.”

The 2016 Frontier is offered in extended cab and crew cab body styles. There’s also five trims: S, SV, Desert Runner, Pro-4X and SL. Every Frontier comes outfitted with top technologies even at the entry-level S with standard features like 15-inch steel wheels, rear privacy glass and front bucket seats. Steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack can be had by opting for an automatic transmission over the manual. For more amenity, choose one of the higher trims like SV, which gets 16-inch alloys, keyless entry and much more.

Purchasers of the Frontier can choose between either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque or a 4-liter V6 that produces 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.

When properly equipped, the four-cylinder configuration can tow up to 3,500 pounds. All V6 models can tow up to 6,500 pounds.
