Specs at a Glance
The Nissan Leaf was one of the first electric cars made by Nissan, and it is still one of the most popular choices for an affordable and practical electric vehicle today. The Nissan Leaf S is the base model with a number of enjoyable amenities and a commendable all-electric range of 150 miles. If you upgrade to the SV Plus, you'll get a stronger engine and battery that provide a bit more power and a longer electric range. There are three trim levels in the Nissan Leaf series, starting with the S. The second trim is the SV, which brings some additional interior upgrades and some different design features on the exterior.
Performance
One of the primary differences between the Nissan Leaf and Leaf Plus comes down to power and performance. The Leaf uses a 40 kWh battery, and the Leaf Plus has a 62 kWh battery. With the base battery comes an electric motor that provides 147 HP in maximum power. You'll also get 150 miles of electric range with this car. The Leaf Plus has a larger and more powerful electric motor and a stronger battery. A 62 kWh battery is under the hood of the Leaf Plus. It also has an electric motor capable of 214 in top power output. Smooth ride quality is a highlight of both trim levels, and the Leaf Plus reaches 0-60 MPH in seven seconds. An automatic transmission comes with both engines.
Appearance
A rear spoiler gives both the Nissan Leaf S and the SV Plus a distinctive and recognizable exterior. The S has LED lights, and the SV Plus can get full LED lighting with an upgrade to a special appearance package. The S has steel wheels sized 16 inches, while the SV Plus has 17-inch alloy wheels with a polished finish. The SV Plus also has fog lights and more chrome touches.
Features
The Nissan Leaf S has a standard eight-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Remote engine start is also standard, with the ability to start the car remotely and either heat or cools the cabin on demand. Split-folding seats and four USB ports are also standard. Satellite radio is included across the board. The SV adds adaptive cruise control to its list of safety features. A leather steering wheel is standard, along with navigation and heated front seats. Heated mirrors are also added to this trim level.
