The popular Downtown Decatur Mardi Gras celebration is once again scheduled to take place this year. On Saturday, Feb, 18, 2017, people from all throughout the area are welcome to come out and enjoy the festivities, which will be held in support of the Special Olympics.
For a solid 25 years, Decatur has been hosting their annual Mardi Gras event. Over the last eight years, the celebration has benefited the Special Olympics and we’re happy to see it support the cause again for 2017.
During the evening Mardi Gras event, which runs from 5-10 p.m., a variety of restaurants and bars in the downtown Decatur area will be offering dinner and drink specials in conjunction with the festival. Some of the establishments participating in the event include 217 Lounge and Paco’s Sol Bistro. There will also be several live bands (Union Square, Escaping Neverland and Tattooed Alibi) and festive music to enjoy, as well as everyone’s favorite Mardi Gras staple: beads!
If you want to join Mardi Gras celebrations this year, but can’t make it to New Orleans, this is the perfect event for you! Come out and have a good time with your friends or family, while supporting a great cause – it’s a win-win!
