Car Not Accelerating

Whether you need to pass a slow-moving car on the highway or go uphill on a steep slope, you can easily accelerate your vehicle by engaging the gas pedal. However, some damaged auto sensors and devices may prevent your vehicle from accelerating at normal rates.

Mass Air Flow and Oxygen Sensors

As the name suggests, the mass airflow sensor on a vehicle is primarily designed to calculate the total mass of air entering an engine block. Likewise, an oxygen sensor is supposed to precisely measure the concentration of oxygen leaving a car's exhaust system. Both sensors ensure optimum burning of fuel when you engage the accelerator. If these sensors stop working properly, the engine will not use optimum air and fuel mixtures.

Malfunctioning Throttle Position Sensor

The Throttle Position Sensor is usually synced with the Engine Control Unit of a vehicle. If the TPS malfunctions, it will significantly disrupt the timing of movement in the valves. Therefore, the cylinders and pistons of an internal combustion engine will misfire at every cycle. Damaged wires and other connected electrical components in a TPS may also create some fire hazards.

Clogged Fuel Filter

A fuel filter aims to reduce contaminants entering the combustion chamber of a conventional automotive engine block. Over time, various organic and inorganic particles may accumulate inside the interior walls of a fuel tank and fuel lines. A severe clog in a fuel filter may lead to dangerous processes under the hood of a car. Toxic fumes may be produced from impartial combustion caused by contamination from the incoming gasoline or diesel. All automakers publish specific guidelines on the intervals for replacing fuel filters based on mileage. However, you may need to replace the fuel filter sooner than the recommended schedule because of extreme driving conditions. Our professional auto technicians may manually remove and visually inspect this important device that traps dirt and other fine particles from the fuel tank.

Dirty Air Filter

Installed directly under the hood of a car, an engine air filter creates a physical buffer between the surroundings and sensitive components of the powertrain. Grime, dust, bugs, and other small particles are usually trapped by a simple automotive part that's easy to inspect and replace. Some engine air filters have reusable and washable designs for long-lasting applications. A clogged air filter prevents enough clean air from reaching the combustion chambers of a powertrain.
