Specs at a Glance

Since the 2017 model year, Nissan has served the North American market with the Armada as its full-size SUV offering. Big, athletic, and fueled with a muscular engine, the Nissan Armada roars into 2021 with several tweaks. There’s more standard tech, the engine gets an output upgrade, and the styling has been refreshed. On one end of the Armada’s trim level spectrum is the SV; at the other, it’s the range-topping Platinum.

Performance

Regardless of trim, the 2021 Nissan Armada has a 5.6-liter V8 under its hood. Nowadays, this engine churns out 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. (Previous entries produced ten less horsepower and 19 less lb-ft of torque.) A seven-speed automatic transmission is pinned to the engine, and you can choose between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Appearance

For 2021, the Nissan Armada gets a bolder, sharper-looking fascia, and it continues to ride on 18-inch 12-spoke aluminum wheels. Also standard are signature LED headlights, body-color overfenders, chrome grille, and door handles, LED turn signal indicators on the side mirrors, dark gray roof rails, and a tow hitch receiver. With the Platinum, expect larger, 22-inch 14-spoke forged aluminum wheels, as well as LED fog lights, a power-sliding glass moonroof, and a chrome finish and auto-dimming mirrors on the side mirrors.

Features

For infotainment, the 2021 Nissan Armada uses the NissanConnect system, which uses a large, 12.3-inch color touchscreen display to integrate features such as a six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system with HD Radio, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, navigation, voice recognition, hands-free text messaging, four USB ports, wireless phone charging ability, and Bluetooth for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming.

Also standard is a 7-inch head-on display (referred to as Advanced Drive-Assist Display), proximity keyless entry with push-button engine start, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system. The Platinum gains a fifth USB port, and the stereo system is replaced by a 13-speaker Bose setup complete with a center speaker and subwoofer. In addition, a remote start is added to get the Armada started before you get to the vehicle.

The rearview mirror gains the auto-dimming ability and a universal transceiver for remote-controlling home features such as garage doors.
