The 2016 Nissan Sentra earned a “Top Safety Pick Plus” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety when equipped with an available Forward Emergency Braking system. The four-door car joins the 2016 Murano, Maxima and Altima in achieving the distinguished designation.

Completely redesigned for 2016, Sentra’s front and rear styling aligns with the current Altima and Maxima sedans. It also gets a new steering wheel and some enhanced dashboard features. The SV, SR and SL trims now come with a high-resolution driver information screen. A power driver seat, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert can also be had on the new Sentra.
The five-passenger sedan is offered in S, FE+ S, SV, SR and SL trim levels. Standard equipment on the entry-level Sentra (S) includes 16-inch wheels, automatic headlights, remote keyless entry, air-conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, a sliding front armrest, 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, cruise control, full power accessories and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player, a USB port, an auxiliary audio jack and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Higher trims get all of this equipment and more.
All Sentra models are powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 130 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. The Sentra gets a six-speed manual on S and FE+ S trims, while a continuously variable transmission is optional on those models and standard on all other grades.
