Now that we've been in the heat a few months, it's a good time to make sure your car is holding up, especially if you'll be going on a road trip. Following frigid temperatures and mountains of snow during the polar vortex, topped with warm and humid weather the past couple months, your car may need a little TLC. So check these parts to make sure your car's in good shape for summer excursions.

Tires
First: Do you still have snow tires on your car? It's time to switch them out if so! Snow tires offer exceptional performance and road grip during winter, but the special material they are composed of wears quickly in warm weather, so it's a good idea to rotate them as soon as winter passes. Second: Check tire pressure regularly to avoid over- and under-inflation, which causes tires to wear out more quickly and increases the chance of blowouts. If the tread on your tires looks severely worn or bald, come to us to have your tires replaced before you go on any trips.

Fluids & Windshield Wipers
This past winter, freezing temperatures and salt from road slush were probably tough on your windshield wipers, so check them to see if they're in need of replacing. Also check your car's windshield, oil and other fluid levels before heading on any long-distance trips.

Brakes
Both cold temperatures and humidity can have a negative affect on brakes, so listen for squealing, grinding and other noises that may indicate a need for service. In fact, even if your brakes aren't making any noise, bring your vehicle to us to have the brake pads and drums checked out. Drivers sometimes get used to the performance of worn brakes, as the wearing out happens gradually.

When you take proper care of your car throughout the seasons, it'll continue to provide reliable performance for years and years. Treat it right and make sure it's ready for your next summer road trip!
