The all-new 2016 Titan XD, the first of the next-generation of Nissan Titan models, commanded attention at its North American Auto Show debut. With a bold new design, more upscale fit-and-finish, incredibly enhanced capability and powerful new turbo-diesel V-8 engine, XD blew the minds of auto show spectators.

Its Looks
Titan XD’s engineers built the truck’s new sheet metal around the volume of the engine bay, which resulted in a muscular design that truly pays homage to the pickup’s immense power. Coming late this year, the 2016 Nissan Titan will show off an imposing and dramatic look. Its light treatments are far more bold and combined with the new hood, grille and bumper, the fascia has an interesting interlocking feel that conveys the full-size truck’s technical precision.

Rear tire wind deflectors and several integrated spoilers have also been added to enhance aerodynamics. Additionally, Titan gets a boost in cargo bed utility, with a rethought design that offers greater flexibility and smarter space utilization. There’s a Utili-track cargo system with heavy-duty cleats, lockable in-bed storage and flush-mounted bed lighting.

Its Engine
At the heart of the new 2016 Titan XD’s power is an all-new Cummins 5.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which is paired with a heavy-duty six-speed Aisin automatic. The new engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 555 lb.-ft. of torque, yet even with all its power the diesel offers greater fuel economy than many of its traditional gas competitors. And with the new V-8, Titan XD offers new levels of towing and hauling power!

Its Frame & Chassis
An all-new frame and chassis underpin the Nissan Titan XD. Looking to the ready-for-battle chassis of the Nissan NV as inspiration, engineers created a new frame and chassis for XD using components that provide serious strength. The burly new chassis can handle the XD’s beefed up towing and hauling ability, while the new high-strength fully boxed ladder frame provides a firm overall structure that serves as the new backbone for XD’s more muscular build.

In addition to its looks, all-new engine, and all-new frame and chassis, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD gets a rugged new transfer case, stronger brakes, a new axle, new differential, reinforced and retuned suspension, and integrated goodneck hitch.
