The Land of Lincoln has many great things to offer residents and visitors alike: a beautiful landscape, friendly faces and access to some of the best events in the country. Decatur Celebration is a time for our city to shine. The three-day extravaganza, which runs from August 5-7, is our opportunity to team up with thousands of others to experience one of Illinois’ most cherished festivals.
Now in its 30th year, it will feature these main events: Carnival, Adorable Baby Contest, Miss Illinois Festival Pageant, 21 Film Festival, Heinkel’s Hot Dog Eating Competition, Razzle Dazzle Parade and the 6th Annual Fun Run/Walk. There will also be three blocks filled with various artists and crafters who will be showcasing some of their best works for you to see and purchase, a wine garden and over 70 mouth-watering food items for you to enjoy.
Decatur Celebration is much more than just great entertainment and fabulous food. It also serves as an excellent way to give back to the community by raising money for various causes. According to the event’s website, “Each year, the event generates over $100,000 for a number of local service organizations, provides opportunities for volunteerism, and means millions to the local business community."
