Scoot Networks offers commuters in the San Francisco area a unique and efficient way to get around town. The company's group of light electric vehicles includes a moped and larger cargo-carrying bike, both of which ride on two wheels. The group also now includes the new Scoot Quad, a fun EV concept from Nissan that offers Scoot riders their first four-wheel option. As far as how the concept was named, we're guessing the "Quad" moniker resulted from the number of wheels.

The miniature EV hits speeds up to 25 mph and also seats two, unlike other Scoots, doubling the fun for users who now get to share the experience with a friend. As one might expect from the developer of the all-electric LEAF, Nissan's Scoot Quad also offers greater range than the two-wheel options, achieving up to 40 miles per charge. Users can find and book Nissan Scoot Quad models through a mobile app and it's $8 per half hour or $80 a day to use them. Scoot Networks says locals reserve the vehicles for a variety of reasons, from running quick errands across town to exploring the city in a one-of-a-kind way.

Nissan partnered with Scoot to research EV variants and how electric cars can be further developed to better meet the needs of urban commuters. We're crossing our fingers that they'll bring these to the Midwest for testing too, but in the meantime you can see one in action in the video below.
