For well over a century, the Macon County Fair has been a cherished annual event for families in and around Decatur, Illinois. This year, the fair returns once again with exciting rides, live music, a rodeo, animal shows and much more. From Tuesday, June 9 through Sunday, June 14, locals can join in the fun at Macon County Fairgrounds off the 121 Freeway and Westlawn Avenue.
The fair is always an affordable event, with free parking and admission of only a $1, except for children 3 and under who get in for free! At the carnival, there are numerous low-priced games that’ll please little ones who want to play for stuffed animals, and guests young and old won’t want to skip the carnival rides, which are only $1 on opening night and Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Other notable activities include the Bob Brady Ram Bulls & Barrels Rodeo on Friday, June 12 and Dyn-O-Mite Demolition Derby on Sunday, June 14. If you and your children are animal lovers, you also won’t want to miss the rabbit, poultry and boar goat shows.
Along with the Macon County Fair’s many exciting rides and attractions, there’s going to be a bloodmobile onsite Friday night where you can roll up your sleeves and make a donation to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center. Sign up for the drive at this link and you will receive one free ticket to the Saturday night Demo Derby!
