
You'll find something exciting around every corner at the Decatur Celebration! Each August, thousands of locals and out-of-town visitors head over to Central Illinois to take part in the Midwest's most fun-filled street festival.
This year the Decatur Celebration falls on July 31 and August 1-3, 2014, and several new activities and exciting headliners are scheduled! There will be a 4-H Techno Robotics Extravaganza, Macon County Pageants, and King and Queen of the festival competition, as well as awesome live performances from artists like Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Salt-N-Pepa and Ruben Studdard from "American Idol."
The four-day festival also includes the following highlights:
- 70 unique food items, including options like alligator on a stick and deep fried brownies, as well as traditional festival food
- Three blocks of arts and crafts where shoppers can find handmade items like teak furniture, wooden signs, soy candles, sun catchers, jewelry, original artwork and much more
- The famous Razzle Dazzle Goodtimes Parade, which includes giant balloons, marchers, floats and bands
- A Kids Block featuring children's games, shows and prizes
- A carnival with loads of fun rides
- A wine garden featuring a premier selection of vino and an area with craft beers
- The 3rd Annual Heinkel's Packing Company Hot Dog Eating Competition, which offers a $500 grand prize for the winner
- Eight show stages featuring national and emerging music artists
